Experiential Workshops in PBSP
August 2-4
Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor is a comprehensive method of emotional reeducation that applies successfully to a wide range of psychological, emotional and interpersonal issues. Its strength lies in its capacity to help people: 1. Symbolically satisfy their Unmet Developmental Needs -- having a place in the world, with nurture, support, protection and limits. 2. Offset the damage of Traumatic Events -- psychological, physical and sexual abuse... 3. Undo the consequences of “Holes in Roles” -- fissures and fractures in family systems that one tries to fill by sacrificing one's own well-being by taking on the roles of absent or missing family members. Join us for a three day workshop. The fee for a three day workshop is $425 with a $170 deposit. There are usually 12-14 structure participants per workshop. Non-structure participant/observer fee is $212 with a $105 deposit. Registration begins at 12:30. Contact the international PBSP office by calling (603)934-5548 or visit the website at

Lakes Region Singles is not a "club" that involves meetings and dues. Members schedule events.
We keep in contact through e-mail and phone calls (web site in future as we grow). Meet new people with like interests. Some of the activities are dining, dancing, hiking, canoe/kayaking, plays, concerts, and picnics. Please call Betty at 393-9964 for information. Newcomers are always welcome. Mission Statement: The general purpose of the group is to provide a way for single people in the general age range from 40's to 70's to meet other people who might share common interests and want to do things with other people instead of alone. It also provides a way of accessing group or couple pricing that is not available to individuals. It is not a dating site or club but rather a fun social group. The membership is not limited by age although people outside the age range may find that there is not too much common interest. At present we will have no membership fee. We are looking for someone to plan and to be contact person for the following activities as well as others you might enjoy having company at: Heritage NH, Mt Washington Cruise, Plays, Boston Trip, Sandwich Fair, Whale watch, and Foliage train Ride (Crawford Notch?).

The Franklin Historical Society, recognizing the importance of the influence Daniel Webster had on not just the city of Franklin, the state of New Hampshire, but the United States as a whole, wishes to acknowledge the treasure almost hidden within the city of Franklin and educate all who pass it as to its meaning and value. The bust of Daniel Webster, which is located in front of the Congregational Christian Church at 47 S. Main Street in Franklin, was dedicated in October, 1932, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Webster's death and the 150 year after his birth. Few people who have viewed this bust know who sculpted it or what the phrase inscribed thereon means. Therefore, the Franklin Historical Society has undertaken to solicit funds to create a bronze plaque which will be mounted on the wall beneath the bust to inform and enlighten all who read the words to be written there. The plaque will be cast by Lincoln Charles, a nationally renown artisan whose metal fabrication business is right here in Franklin. Contributions may be sent to the Franklin Historical Society, P.O. Box 43, Franklin, NH 03235. Personal checks are gratefully accepted, and should be marked on the memo line with the phrase "Webster Bust Plaque Fund". Anyone giving $100 or more will receive a complimentary copy of Alice Shepard's "The History of Franklin". All donations are tax deductible to the full extent of existing law. These checks will be placed in a special account, and once the $3,000 goal is reached, Mr. Charles will begin to craft this tribute to the man who graces the city seal of Franklin. To begin the campaign, the members of the Society unanimously voted to contribute $300 to encourage others to do the same. So much history goes unnoticed, and the Society hopes that this plaque will help to instill an interest to learn more about our city and the famous figures whose lives are inextricably tied to its heritage. Local Organizations in Need of Volunteers

Interested in taking a walk or bike ride on a scenic historic trail close to the downtowns of the twin rivers area, yet with the feel of wilderness? A 3 mile trail parallels the Winnipesaukee River and passes the historic sulfite upside down covered bridge believed to be the only one in the country and listed on the national register of historic places. You will also view mill ruins and remaining portions of dams that tell the history of the 5 mills that operated on this river in the mid 19th century. You will overlook the Winnipesaukee River where at any time you may see a kayaker navigating what is becoming a popular kayak spot as the river drops 80 feet in elevation in a little over 4000 feet as it passes through a spectacular gorge. The trail is open to all non-motorized users and runs from the historic railroad trestle in Franklin to the Surrett battery property just off Park Street in Northfield. In that area you can also view the collection of antique rail cars and cabooses that operate on the local scenic railway. For more information and other great walks go to www.lakesregion.org.

Seeking Volunteers

The TRIP Center is looking for someone who would be willing to teach a gentle yoga class twice a month at the Center. Please call Sarah or Nancy at 934-4151.

The TRIP Center now has high speed internet, a wonderful addition, allowing us to start planning our own computer classes. In honor of this new arrival we are starting a campaign to buy some new computers. As the saying goes, “Find a penny; pick it up, all day long you’ll have good luck!” If you are like me you are always finding pennies and putting them in a jar or a box, letting them build up, yet never spending them. One of our clients suggested, “If everyone brought in their pennies to donate it would add up quickly. We could be well on our way to a new computer in no time.” What a great idea. For the entire month of August we will gladly take your piggy banks, junk boxes, or whatever pennies you have kicking around at home. Our goal is buy at least one computer at the end of the month. Those whom donate will have his or her name added to the donation board, along with the progress of how much has been donated.
